“e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) 2019-2020”
Congratulations to our college e-Yantra Robotics Team for winning Consolation Prize in this year’s e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC).
- Team Members:
- 1. Aditya Kumar (ECE)
- 2. Arvind Patidar (ECE)

- e-Yantra is a project sponsored by MHRD through the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT).
- It is an initiative by IIT Bombay that aims to create the next generation of embedded systems engineers with a practical outlook to help provide practical solutions to some of the real world problems.
Aboute-Yantra Robotics Competition
e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) is a unique annual competition launched in the month of August every year for undergraduate students in engineering colleges. Selected teams are given a robotic kit complete with accessories and video tutorials to help them learn basic concepts in embedded systems and microcontroller programming. Abstracts of real world problems assigned as "themes" are then implemented by the teams using the robotic kits. The winners of this competition will be eligible for summer internship at IIT Bombay through e-Yantra Summer Internship Program.
The competition is conducted completely online over a period of 4-5 months. During this period Teams work on Tasks – each Task being a step in the learning/problem-solving process. Based on the performance in the Tasks, teams are selected for further stages of the competition/Finals of the competition. Through this competition, students are not only learning and exploring technologies but also developing skills to analyze a problem, finding alternate solutions and presenting an appropriate solution to the problem - skills essential in any entrepreneurial endeavour.
About the Theme Rapid Rescuer (RR)
Rescue operations pose a grave danger to victim as well as to those assigned the job of saving the lives of victims. Rescuing people in case of fire and explosion in any cityscape comprising numerous buildings (these may be including residential, commercial, industrial, petroleum/chemical distribution, maritime, construction, and agricultural buildings etc) is a risky and crucial operation.
Robots can be used in such applications to save lives of people and also provide crucial information that can further be used by experts for decision making. The purpose of Rapid Rescuer is to rescue victims from dangerous or unpleasant situations to safer locations.
The arena for the theme is an abstraction of a city in the form of a maze. An image of a maze will be given to teams and using Image Processing, teams have to find the shortest path from start node to final node. This information will be communicated to the Bot. The goal is to traverse the shortest path and evacuate people from different locations to a safe place whilst avoiding unknown obstacles.
